Delegates offer incense and lay a wreath to pay tribute to General Vo Nguyen Giap and 34 soldiers of the Vietnam Dissemination and Liberation Armed Team.

The event was in a series of activities to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944 - 2024), the 35th anniversary of the Whole-People’s Defense Festive Day (December 22, 1989 - 2024), and the 80th foundation anniversary of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) (December 22, 1944 - 2024).

During the event, delegates and troops recalled memories since the establishment of the Vietnam People’s Army via stories of the generals and heroes of the People’s Armed Forces. The program contributed to highlighting the development of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), the strength of each service, corps, and army corps, while underscoring the importance of the Party and political work, and enduring the leadership of the Party towards the military in all aspects.

In his opening speech, Major General Doan Xuan Bo, Editor-in-Chief of the PAN, Head of the event’s Organizing Panel, underlined the heroic tradition and outstanding feats-of-arms of the VPA. At the same time, he also affirmed that along with the VPA’s development, the PAN has excellently fulfilled its role as the organ of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, and the voice of the armed forces and people. Facing many difficulties and challenges, generations of the newspaper have done their utmost in task performance, contributing to beautifying the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers.

Meanwhile, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Huy Hieu, former Deputy Defense Minister, held that the VPA is a revolutionary military that comes from the people and fights for the people, and its troops are ready to sacrifice their own lives for “the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and for the happiness of the people.”

Moreover, Lieutenant General Phung Khac Dang, former Deputy Chief of the GDP, emphasized the significant contribution of political officers at all levels, under the leadership of the GDP, to the development of the VPA.

Gifts presented to heroes of the People's Armed Forces

For her part, Senior Captain Vu Nhat Huong from the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations shared that her comrades and she, as a young generation of the country, would try their best to contribute to building the VPA and defending the Fatherland.

There were also some artistic performances during the event, praising the Party, Uncle Ho, and the nation.

Gifts presented to policy beneficiaries in Tam Kim and Hoa Tham communes

On the occasion, the organizing panel presented gifts to the generals and heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, policy beneficiaries, and students with good academic outcomes in Tam Kim and Hoa Tham communes, Nguyen Binh district; handed over gratitude, “Great unity” and comrade houses to needy people and troops in Nguyen Binh and Hoa An districts of Cao Bang province.
