At the meeting, Lieutenant General Trinh Dinh Thach, Secretary and Political Commissar of Military Region 5, reported on the military region’s implementation of military and defense missions since the beginning of 2023 and mission orientations for the remaining time of the year.
Accordingly, the standing board has worked closely with local Party committee, and authorities to direct the effective performance of the duties, the building of potential in defensive areas, serious realization of the Government and Ministry of National Defense’s directions on defensive area building, and strict observance of combat readiness posture at all levels as well as assurance of safety for major targets.
Attentively, the Party Committee and Chain-of-Command of the region have led the force building, the implementation of militia and self-defense work, the defense-security education, the training for troops, the successful defensive area exercises of Ninh Thuan and Gia Lai provinces. Moreover, under their leadership, the Party and political work in the military region has been carried out comprehensively and focally, meeting all set plans. The political and ideological situation of officers and soldiers has been stable, and they have been ready to undertake and complete all assignments. Military Region 5’s affiliated agencies and units have effectively performed mass mobilization work and gratitude activities, assisted locals in overcoming consequences of disasters, and ensured logistics supplies and technical services for routine and unscheduled tasks.

Addressing the working session, Gen. Cuong applauded the region for its achievements.
To fulfill the coming missions, Gen. Cuong asked the standing board of the Party Committee of Military Region 5 to continue embracing and realizing all levels’ resolutions and directives on military and defense tasks, keep a close watch and make forecast of situations, give timely recommendations to the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense to deal with military-defense situations in a timely manner.
The standing board was also requested to direct the training, exercises, building of all people’s defense posture coupled with firm people’s security disposition so as to improve their quality, and synchronous implementation of solutions to build a comprehensively-strong, exemplary, typical military region, creating synergy in task performance.
Additionally, the board should concentrate on building a politically-, ideologically-, morally-, and organizationally-strong Party Organization and a contingent of competent cadres at all levels according to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s “Seven Dares” spirit.
