At the meeting, chaired by the GDP’s Deputy Chief Senior Lieutenant General Do Can, delegates were briefed on the criteria for selecting candidates, as well as the number of candidates from the Organs of the General Department of Politics.
After thorough consideration, the participants agreed to nominate the GDP’s Chief General Luong Cuong and GDP’s Deputy Chief Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong as candidates for the upcoming election to the 15th National Assembly.

On the same day, the GDP held an open meeting to evaluate the newly-nominated candidates for the upcoming election of the NA under the chair of Senior Lieutenant General Do Can.
At the event, delegates were reported on the outcomes of the earlier conference of the Organs of General Department of Politics as well as voters’ evaluation of the two newly-nominated candidates based on the criteria for NA deputies.
Reports delivered at the meeting affirmed that the two nominees have good political careers and are qualified and determined officers. They have demonstrated their firm political stance and successfully fulfilled their duties assigned by the Party, State, and army.
At the event, all of the participants agreed on the nomination of General Luong Cuong and Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong as candidates for the upcoming election to the 15th National Assembly.

On behalf of the two candidates, General Luong Cuong thanked the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, delegates at the meeting, and local voters for their trust and support, and promised to try his best to fulfill all assigned missions.
