The delegation met with officers, soldiers, local people and forces performing duties on Son Ca (Sand Cay), Nam Yet (Namyit), Da Lon (Discovery Great Reef) A, Sinh Ton (Sin Cowe), Tien Nu (Tennent Reef) B, Nui Le (Cornwallis South Reef) C, Truong Sa Dong (Central Reef), Da Tay (West London Reef) A, Truong Sa (Spratly) islands and DK1/15 Platform.

At each stop, the delegation offered incense at the monuments for fallen heroes and martyrs, the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House on Truong Sa Island, the memorial site of General Vo Nguyen Giap on Son Ca Island, and spiritual-cultural works on the islands. They also held a ceremony to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives to safeguard national maritime sovereignty.

At units, the delegation inspected their training and combat readiness posture, performance of Party and political work, guarantee of logistics and technical supplies and their engagement in local socio-economic development and improvement of troops’ spiritual and material life.

According to reports delivered by island commanders, units stationed on these islands have strictly observed higher-level directives, rehearsed combat scenarios, organized patrols and guards to closely monitor air and sea situations to handle contingencies without passivity or surprise, and effectively made Truong Sa green.

Addressing working sessions, Gen. Tung shared difficulties faced by troops and islanders. He highly appreciated their resilience, strong will, unsung sacrifices, and achievements in training, combat readiness, socio-economic and cultural development despites numerous hardships.

He believed that troops and islanders in Truong Sa Special Zone would continue promoting attainments, uphold the heroic tradition of the Vietnam People’s Navy, overcome all difficulties, and firmly safeguard national maritime sovereignty.

He asked them to further strengthen political and ideological work, thoroughly implement General Secretary and State President To Lam’s direction, promote political steadfastness, unity and comradeship,  clearly grasp their missions, identify protection of maritime sovereignty as a political responsibility, and continue to serve as a firm support for fishermen going offshore.

Many delegates are proud when setting foot for the first time on this sacred land of the Fatherland.

One of the highlights of the trip was the collection of over 10 freshly composed songs and dozens of newly-written poems in praise of love for the sea, islands and naval soldiers.
