The event witnessed the presence of Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister, senior officers of the General Staff and the General Department of Politics, and representatives of the agencies and units of the Defense Ministry.

Reportedly, the building of comprehensively-strong military unit models is a sound policy of the Defense Ministry in order to meet the requirements of the military’s development in the current context. Under the leadership of the Defense Ministry, the General Staff, and the General Department of Politics, the Party committees and chains-of-command at all levels seriously observed and comprehensively implemented resolutions on the building of the model.

After one year of implementation, units in the whole army fulfilled the work based on five evaluation criteria, namely political and ideological education, organizations and the training, regularity building and discipline observation, personnel and assets’ management, and the ensurance of good life for all troops.

The units’ Party committees and chains-of-command have regularly checked the work to promptly overcome shortcomings and to better perform their missions. According to the Defense Ministry’s relevant bodies, the three units that fulfilled the criteria for a comprehensively-strong military unit model were Regiment 66 of Division 10 of Military Corps 3, Brigade 242 of Military Region 3, and Battalion 79 of the Department of Technique of Military Region 4.

Speaking at the conference, General Giang praised the units’ achievements over the past time, and urged them to continue grasping higher levels’ resolutions, building strong Party organizations, renewing the training activities, and improving the quality of logistical and technical work, contributing to fulfilling the assigned tasks.
