Defense minister works with key agencies
PANO – General Ngo Xuan Lich, member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Defense Minister, had working sessions with the General Department of Politics and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army on January 22.
During the working session with the General Department of Politics, the defense minister was briefed on the agency’s task performance last year, and their major plans for this year.

Accordingly, the General Department of Politics thoroughly implemented the resolutions and directives of the Party, the Central Military Commission, and the Ministry of National Defense, contributing to building a firm military in terms of politics, ideology and organization. The Party and political work was performed in line with the military and defense missions as well as the reality of troops’ operations. The General Department of Politics gave timely advice to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on building firm political stance for troops and strong Party organizations.
Praising the agency’s achievements over the past year, General Lich urged them to continue grasping higher levels’ directives and resolutions, especially the resolution of the Central Military Commission on directing the military and defense missions and building Party organizations at all levels in the military. In addition, the defense minister suggested that the General Department’s leadership should create effective and creative measures to enhance the political and ideological education across the military.
Previously, at the working session with the General Staff, General Lich acknowledged the agency’s achievements over the past year. He asked the agency’s leadership to renew their work, direct the implementation of training and combat readiness missions in the whole military, keeping units ever-ready to respond to any unexpected situations in the current context.
