An overview of the meeting

In the close atmosphere, General Giang inquired after General Lich and his family and wished the former defense leader good health and longevity. He hoped that General Lich would continue to contribute valuable opinions and experience to helping the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense successfully lead and direct the implementation of defense consolidation, military building, and national protection mission.

The defense minister deeply thanked General Lich for his important contribution to the struggle for national liberation and reunification in the past, current national construction and defense cause, and the development of the military. On behalf of the Central Military Commission and leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, he briefed the retired General on the whole military’s outstanding achievements in military and defense in 2023. 

In the year, party committees, chains-of-command, and troops of agencies and units in the whole military have done their utmost to comprehensively complete assigned missions and set targets. At present, the whole military is organizing a serious of practical activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam People’s Army, the 35th anniversary of the whole-people’s defense festive day, and other important celebrations of the nation and the military.

During the conversation, General Lich thanked the Central Military Commission, the Defense Ministry, and the Defense Minister for the concern and expressed delight at the outcomes obtained by the whole military over the past time, especially in 2023.

The retired General believed that under the leadership and direction of the Party and State, directly the CMC and Defense Ministry, the military will uphold and promote the glorious tradition to successfully fulfill the strategic mission of firmly building and protecting socialism, contributing to enriching the tradition of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the new period.
