The week is to celebrate the 79th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) (December 22, 1944 - 2023), the 79th anniversary of the General Department of Political Affairs (December 22, 1944 - 2023) and the 34th anniversary of the Whole People’s Defense Festive Day (December 22, 1989 - 2023).

The films to be screened during the week are those produced by the People's Army Cinema and other domestic film studios. The six films are documentary films “Sounds of Mountains and Forests,” “Ms. Cham,” “Still in the Deep Sea,” and feature films “Road of Letters,” “Good Land,” and “Rose Squad.”

The documentary films “Blue Desire" by director Nguyen Dieu Hoa, “Green Stars in the Sea Waves” by Meritorious Artist, Director Bui Tuan Dung were projected at the opening ceremony.

In his opening remarks, Major General Le Xuan Sang, Deputy Director of the Department of Political Education and Information under the General Department of Political Affairs, said that the films are about revolutionary wars and post-war, with vivid and clear features of Uncle Ho's soldiers. The film week is to honor the glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnam People’s Army and to confirm the sound leadership of the Party and State in different historical periods and in national renewal process and international integration.

Gen. Sang hoped that the films will leave deep impressions of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the heart of each viewer, helping bring activities and life of soldiers in peacetime closer to people throughout the country, so that they can understand more, show more trust in, and sympathy with troops who have overcome hardships, even made sacrifices to the national construction and defense.

The film week will last until December 20.
