Defense minister pays tribute to former Party, State, and military leaders

They were former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu; former State President Le Duc Anh; former Defense Ministers Generals Vo Nguyen Giap, Van Tien Dung, Doan Khue, and Phung Quang Thanh; former Chiefs of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) Generals Nguyen Chi Thanh, Chu Huy Man; former Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister General Le Trong Tan; and former Deputy Defense Minister General Hoang Van Thai.

Talking with relatives of the former Party, State and military leaders, General Phan Van Giang appreciated the great contribution of the forefathers. He also inquired after the relatives and expressed his hope that they would make further contribution to the cause of national development and military building task.

On the occasion of the upcoming lunar New Year 2023, General Phan Van Giang presented Tet gifts and wished them a happy traditional holiday.

During his visit to former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Lieutenant General Dang Quan Thuy and former Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant General Phan Thu, General Phan Van Giang informed them about the task performance of units in the whole military in 2022. Accordingly, the whole military promoted solidarity and tried their best to fulfill all assigned missions, especially in training and combat readiness work. They also successfully organized the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2022, leaving good impression on international friends.

The defense minister wished them good health so as to further contribute to the building of the Vietnam People’s Army and the cause of national construction and defense.

For their part, Lieutenant Generals Dang Quan Thuy and Phan Thu thanked the Central Military Commission (CMC), Ministry of National Defense (MND), and General Phan Van Giang for their care, and congratulated the whole military on its achievements last year. They believed that under the leadership of the Party, CMC, MND, the military would excellently accomplish all assigned missions.
