Defense leaders work with units
PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Tran Don, Deputy Defense Minister, chaired a meeting on September 5 to clarify contents in the decision of the Standing Committees of the Central Military Commission and Hanoi Municipal Party Committee on implementing military and defense missions in combination with socio-economic development in Hanoi.
The decision was reached at the meeting between the Standing Committees of the Central Military Commission and Hanoi Municipal Party Committee to review their coordination in leading the implementation of military and defense consolidation and socio-economic development missions in the capital city.
According to the decision, in the coming time the two sides will focus on overcoming shortcomings and promoting education to raise people’s and armed forces’ awareness of the military and defense consolidation and socio-economic development missions. They will actively combat schemes of hostile forces, conduct surveys to finalize the plan on developing socio-economy and consolidating defense and security, contributing to building the city into a defensive area with firm “people’s heart” posture and ensuring political stability for socio-economic development in the locality.

Also, the two sides will jointly build a strong militia and reserve force with good combat readiness capability, instruct units in the city to closely follow situational development to deal with arising issues in a timely manner as well as coordinate in ensuring security at important events of the city and the nation in the coming time.
On the same day, Deputy Defense Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem, led a mission of the Steering Committee for Administrative Reform of the Ministry of National Defense to inspect the administrative reform work at Military Region 2 and the Phu Tho provincial Military Command.
Praising their achievements in administrative reform over the past time, General Chiem asked Military Region 2 and the Phu Tho provincial Military Command to promote information dissemination and education to raise troops’ awareness of the importance and the need to reform administrative procedures.
They also should complete legal documents on simplifying administrative procedures related to military and defense missions, actively carry out the Politburo’s decision on the restructuring of the organization of the Vietnam People’s Army in 2021, apply IT to the implementation of the work, and seek measures to overcome shortcomings in administrative reforms in their agencies and units.
