Military political chief visits former Party and defense leaders
PANO - Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission and Director of the General Department of Politics (GDP) of the Vietnam People’s Army, on January 25 visited and inquired after former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu and former GDP’s Directors, General Nguyen Quyet and Senior Lieutenant General Pham Thanh Ngan, who is also former Politburo member.
The visits were on the occasion of the 89th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3) and the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival 2019.
At the meetings, General Cuong briefed former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, General Quyet and General Ngan on the whole military’s achievements in Party and political work in 2018 and major tasks of the military political sector for 2019.

General Cuong also affirmed that military units would continue seriously maintaining combat readiness, and taking good care of troops, national contributors, and local needy people on this occasion.
He wished former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, General Quyet and General Ngan good health and expressed hope that they would continue contributing to the revolutionary cause of the Party, State and the development of the Vietnam People’s Army.
For their parts, former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, General Quyet and General Ngan expressed thanks to leaders of the Central Military Commission, Defense Ministry and GDP, and hoped that troops in the whole military would continue to uphold the tradition of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, fulfilling all assigned tasks in 2019 and building a revolutionary, regular, elite and gradually modernized military.
