Defense leader visits retired General Pham Van Tra
PANO – Minister of National Defense, General Ngo Xuan Lich on July 18 visited and presented gifts to General Pham Van Tra (retired), former Politburo member and former Defense Minister, prior to the 72nd Vietnamese Wounded Soldiers’ and Martyrs’ Day (July 27).
On behalf of the Central Military Commission, the Defense Ministry and troops in the whole military, General Lich wished General Tra and his family good health and hoped that the retired General would make valuable and practical contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and State and military building and defense consolidation missions.

The Defense Minister briefed General Tra on the socio-economic situation of the country, outcomes of the implementation of military and defense missions and the resolution of the 12th National Party Congress as well as military units’ preparations for their Party congresses prior to the 13th National Party Congress.
General Tra congratulated the military on their achievements over the past time and expressed his belief that under the direct leadership of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, military units will successfully fulfill all assigned missions, meeting the requirements of the cause of national construction and defense in the current period.
