Defense leader receives QuangTri’s national contributors
PANO – Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), met with a delegation of national contributors from Quang Tri province on December 5.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Director of Quang Tri provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Hoang Tuan Anh held that the province is currently home to 120,000 national contributors, including 18,800 martyrs, 11,400 wounded and sick veterans, and 2,600 Vietnamese heroic mothers. Around 72 war cemeteries are located in the locality with 54,000 tombs of war martyrs from provinces and cities nationwide.

Speaking at the event, General Can recalled that the great unity among the Party organizations, authorities, armed forces and people of Quang Tri province during the struggles for national independence and freedom had contributed to liberating the South and reunifying the country. They had given wholehearted supports to the VPA’s troops during war time and in the current national construction and defense cause, he added.
The senior defense leader also stressed that the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense always pay due attention to directing the whole military in carrying out gratitude activities. Annually, the ministry directs its relevant units to educate troops across about the national patriotism and policies for national contributors, he noted.
At the event, on behalf of the Ministry of National Defense’s leadership, Lieutenant General Do Can presented gifts to Quang Tri’s national contributors.
