Border guards further cooperate in border management and protection
PANO - On March 16, at the Son La provincial Border Guard Command Headquarters, the Border Guard Commands of Son La, Thanh Hoa, and Dien Bien provinces held a coordination conference in border management and protection for 2025.
In 2024, territorial sovereignty and political security in the border areas of the three provinces were strictly protected. The relations among these provinces and their Lao counterparts, including Houaphanh, Luang Prabang, and Phongsaly, constantly developed, particularly in terms of border management and protection coordination.

Residents in border areas of the three provinces were encouraged to contribute to local socio-economic development and participate in border security protection alongside border guards.
Also in 2024, the border guard forces of the three provinces exchanged information, held dissemination sessions, and carried out joint patrols, contributing to the firm border management and protection.
Attentively, annual meetings with Laos’ bordering provinces helped strengthen the long-standing partnership and cooperation between the two nations.
At the conference, leaders of the three commands stressed the importance of bolstering information exchange, border patrol efforts, and promptly addressing violations of territorial sovereignty and border security. They highlighted the need to raise public awareness of adhering to the agreement on Vietnam-Laos border gate and land border management regulations. Giving advice to strengthen grassroots-level political foundation was also underlined.
