During the four-day event, participating troops will demonstrate their knowledge about guidance for air crews during combat and practice related contents.

In the competition, flight commanders will show their understanding of the organization of a flight in three stages; flight management and operation and handling of unexpected situations; use of weapons; traffic control and flight safety. Pilots, pilot-navigators, and navigation officers will perform their calculation and estimation skills, show their expertise and conduct flights on map.

An overview of the event

In the practice content, jet pilots will intercept medium- and low-altitude air targets on land and at sea and low-altitude and low-speed targets as well as conduct punctual long-haul flights. Meanwhile, helicopter crews will carry out long-haul flights within the specified time and fly as simulated targets for interceptor jet pilots to perform their skills. Navigation officers will direct their unit's flights from the command post and navigation radar station.

During the live-fire and bombing exercise, flight commanders will carry out their missions at the firing range’s command post, while navigation officers will direct crews to complete missions. Fighter pilots and helicopter crews from each regiment will conduct two flights and fire and bomb targets as requested by the organizing panel.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Major General Vu Hong Son emphasized that the competition aims to accurately evaluate flying skills of pilots from units of the Air Defense - Air Force Service, their mastery of weapons, calculation ability, and stance, thus enhancing the quality of training to meet the new requirements of missions in the new period. 

He urged the participating units to help their troops thoroughly grasp the purpose, significance, and requirements of the festival and conduct contents with the highest determination. Functional agencies should check and assist units in keeping aircraft and weapons in the best conditions. 

Gen. Son requested participating pilots to closely follow developments of the weather and conditions of the airport, strictly observe regulations, and ensure absolute safety in all aspects.
