Based on the overall results of stages within the “Safe Route” contest, the Vietnamese troops ranked third among competing teams, after Russia and Uzbekistan.
Talking about the achievement, Head of VPA’s Engineering Contingent Colonel Pham Tuan Luc said that members of the contingent overcame all difficulties and were determined to obtain the best possible result at the event. He regretted that they could not have had better overall results as in the final round one of their vehicles experienced technical problems.
Non-commissioned Lieutenant Nguyen Quang Tien impressed members of other participating teams and jury with his swift response to circumstances. While erecting a TMM-3M heavy mechanized bridge, Lieutenant Tien used his foot to seal the hole in the hydraulic hose to help other members to complete their part. Because the pressure was too high, the jet of oil sprayed through his shoe’s sole, causing his toes to bleed. His quick response was lauded by other members of the team and contributed to the success of the team.

Meanwhile, Non-commissioned Captain Pham Van Quy, a driver of IMR vehicle, was praised as one of the best competitors in the final round. In the competition content for IMR combat engineer vehicle crew, although arranged logs were shorter and antitank ditch was larger than those he used to practice, Quy managed to complete the content with good result.
The “Safe Route” contest of the Army Games 2021 ended successfully. It is obvious that what the VPA’s Engineering Contingent performed during the competition won the hearts of other participating countries and jury.
