General Giang is leading a high-ranking Vietnamese military delegation to attend the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Retreat, the ninth ADMM Plus, and informal meetings between ASEAN defense ministers and their U.S. and Indian counterparts from November 21 to 23.

At the meeting, Cambodian Defense Minister Tea Banh expressed his delight at welcoming his Vietnamese counterpart and the high-ranking Vietnamese military delegation to ADMM Retreat and the ninth ADMM Plus.

The two defense chiefs exchanged views on regional and international situations of common concern and discussed orientations to foster the bilateral defense cooperation in the time ahead.

They reached consensus on suggesting the two defense ministries pay attention to and closely work with authorized agencies of the two countries to successfully organize defense cooperation activities, practically contributing to the general success of the “Vietnam - Cambodia, Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Year 2022,” and deepening the relationship between the two countries and militaries, making defense cooperation deserve to be an important pillar of the two countries’ relations.

The Vietnamese minister congratulated the Cambodia Ministry of Defense on successfully hosting a wide range of ASEAN defense-military meetings this year and expressed his belief that the ADMM Retreat and the ninth ADMM Plus will be a success, helping maintain ASEAN’s centrality.

Defense Minister Phan Van Giang invited Cambodian counterpart Tea Banh to pay an official visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the first Vietnam International Defense Expo hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense this December in Hanoi.
