At the meeting Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong welcomed General Khim Bunsong and the Cambodian delegation to Vietnam to exchange experience in preparing for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).
The Vietnamese Chief of the General Staff highly appreciated the significance of the Cambodian mission’s visit taking place in the context that the two countries and militaries are organizing practical activities to mark the “Vietnam – Cambodia, Cambodia – Vietnam Friendship Year 2022.”
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong took the occasion to thank Cambodia for its valuable support to Vietnam so far. He congratulated Cambodia on recent successes in hosting a series of political-diplomatic and military-defense events in its ASEAN chairmanship year 2022, including the freshly-ended 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and related meetings.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong highly appreciated the participation of the Cambodian delegation led by General Hun Manet, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, in the 23rd ASEAN Chiefs of Army Multilateral Meeting (ACAMM-23), the 30th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM-30), and the 10th ASEAN Sergeant Major Annual Meeting (ASMAM-10) which took place recently in Vietnam.

The Vietnamese Chief of the General Staff emphasized that the two defense ministries and two militaries have paid attention to training, considering it a field with strategic significance. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense is willing to support Cambodia within its ability to successfully organize the 32nd SEA Games, contributing to enhancing Cambodia's position and image in the regional and international arena.
For his part, General Khim Bunsong sincerely thanked Vietnam for the valuable support to Cambodia over the past time. He expressed delight at the activities organized in the "Vietnam - Cambodia, Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Year 2022."
On this occasion, General Khim Bunsong conveyed the greetings of General Tea Banh, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, to General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense.
General Khim Bunsong informed Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong about the results of his talks on the same day with Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff. He affirmed that the mission received valuable experience at the talks, which will serve a basis for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces to thoroughly prepare for and organize the 32nd SEA Games in 2023.
The guest also congratulated Vietnam on successfully organizing the 31st SEA Games as well as the impressive achievements of the Vietnam People's Army sports delegation at the games.
