Vietnamese frigate completes defense diplomacy duties

The Vietnamese ship actively joined International Maritime Defense Exhibition (IMDEX) 2023 and the ASEAN - India Maritime Exercise (AIME) in Singapore, ASEAN Fleet Review (AFR) and the second ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX-2) in the Philippines, contributing to the success of these events.

In a review after AMNEX-2, ASEAN countries agreed that the active participation of Vietnam and other ASEAN countries in events hosted by the Philippines showed a united ASEAN community with readiness for cooperation and boosting practical cooperation for ASEAN solidarity and for peace and stability in the region and the world, thus raising ASEAN’s position and confirming ASEAN’s capability in responding to common regional and global challenges.

At the closing ceremony of AMNEX-2 on May 15 evening, the Philippine Navy expressed its pleasure with the engagement and good performance of participating navies of ASEAN countries in AFR and AMNEX-2’s sea phase. Captain Vincent J Sibala, head of the organizing panel of the exercise, confirmed that what the navies of ASEAN countries demonstrated in the activities would help effectively pursue common interests, thereby bringing countries in the region closer. He emphasized that cooperation at sea can only be enhanced through sincere cooperation. This is the foundation for interoperability, responsiveness, and readiness to help countries better respond to common challenges in the region.

Thanking countries for their support to the Philippines, Colonel Sibala expressed his hope that countries will have more opportunities to gather as neighbors and friends for the common good and be confident that they have reliable friends.
