Vietnamese coast guard officer to undertake U.N. peacekeeping duties
PANO - Deputy Commander in charge of law of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command Major General Vu Trung Kien chaired a meeting on February 20 in Hanoi to encourage and assign mission to Senior Captain Tran Nam Phuong who was about to undertake peacekeeping duties at the U.N. Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).

Senior Captain Tran Nam Phuong is the second coast guard officer that has been selected to join the United Nations Peacekeeping Force.
At the meeting, Major General Vu Trung Kien praised and congratulated Senior Captain Tran Nam Phuong on being selected to carry out U.N. peacekeeping mission at UNISFA.
The deputy commander emphasized the pride and honor of the coast guard force to contribute its elite officers to become the peace messengers of the Fatherland.
Major General Vu Trung Kien asked Captain Phuong to continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the viewpoints and foreign policies of the Party, State, and military; strictly observe the discipline and regulations of the U.N. mission and laws of the host country; be determined to overcome all difficulties and challenges to successfully fulfill all responsibilities and tasks entrusted by the Party, State, military, and people; promote the tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, beautiful virtues of Uncle Ho's soldiers and coast guard troops in a difficult area like Abyei.

As reported, before leaving for Abyei, Senior Captain Tran Nam Phuong, former Assistant at the International Relations Division of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command underwent training at the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations and successfully completed the training contents. He is now ready to undertake the role as logistics staff officer at UNISFA within one year, starting February 2023.
Senior Captain Tran Nam Phuong said he was well prepared in all aspects and ready to carry out the mission. He promised that he will actively learn, quickly adapt to the new working environment, and promote a sense of responsibility and creative spirit to fulfill assigned tasks, contributing to popularizing the image of peace-loving Vietnamese people to international friends.
