During the talks, the two sides reviewed and discussed the results achieved in their coordination in managing and safeguarding territorial sovereignty and border security of each country.

An overview of the talks

They agreed on future cooperation. Accordingly, they will maintain regular meetings, organize joint patrols, coordinate in law enforcement along the border, and continue to address issues related to border management and protection on the basis of pro-activeness, friendship, cooperation, and development, in line with legal documents on the shared Vietnam - China land border, the border cooperation agreement, and the common perceptions reached during high-level talks between the two militaries.

At the event, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Cong Son, Commanding Officer of Son Vi Border Post and head of the Vietnamese delegation, stated that in the coming time, in line with the external affairs of the Border Guard Command of Tuyen Quang province, the unit will continue to maintain regular talks, periodic briefings, and border patrols to promptly exchange information, effectively coordinate in handling incidents along the border, combat crime, prevent illegal border crossings, and curb the spread of diseases. In addition, the unit will promote cultural and sport exchange to boost friendship between the two sides’ border protection forces.

Apart from aforementioned cooperation orientations, both sides agreed to strengthen dissemination efforts to help border residents maintain stability, develop economy, comply with the border agreement, and raise their awareness of protecting the border and markers.

The achievements in border external affairs have significantly contributed to building a peaceful and friendly shared Vietnam-China border, creating favorable foundations for socio-economic development on both sides. These results have also strengthened the stable, sustainable, and effective long-term cooperation between the border protection forces of the two countries.
