Attending the event were representatives of the leadership of Dien Bien and Lai Chau provinces of Vietnam, Phongsaly province of Laos, and Yunnan province of China.

With the theme “Solidarity and Friendship – Deepening Border Affection – Developing Together,” after three days of vibrant and exciting competitions, the 9th Vietnam – Laos - China “Con throwing” Festival concluded successfully with activities that fostered solidarity and friendship.

Based on competition results, the organizing panel awarded 34 sets of medals across 34 events in six sports categories, namely “Nem con” (throwing the cloth ball), tug of war, “Tu lu” (ball games), crossbow shooting, pickleball, and stick pushing…

The organizers awarded the overall first prize to Dien Bien’s delegation, which won 18 gold, 13 silver, and 2 bronze medals. The overall second prize went to Lai Chau’s delegation with 9 gold, 7 silver, and 19 bronze medals. Shared third prizes were awarded to the delegation from Yunnan province, with 5 gold, 8 silver, and 24 bronze medals; and  Phongsaly’s delegation with 2 gold, 6 silver, and 23 bronze medals.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Tran Hai Ha, Acting Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province and Deputy Head of the Organizing Panel, acknowledged, commended, and stressed the positive values left by the festival which will continue to resonate and spread, serving as a bridge of solidarity and friendship, and a solid foundation for localities of the three countries to further strengthen cooperation and develop together for peace, stability, and shared prosperity in the border region.

The rotational host flag for the festival handed to China

Receiving the rotational host flag for the 10th edition in 2026, Chinese representative expressed his appreciation for the hospitality, thorough preparations, and dedicated efforts that contributed to the success of the festival. He affirmed that Vietnam, Laos, and China share close bonds and similar cultures. Accepting the rotational responsibility to host the festival is both an honor and a significant responsibility, as the flag not only vividly symbolizes the solidarity and close neighborly friendship among the three countries, but also carries the shared aspirations of their peoples for a peaceful environment, coexistence, and joint development.

He pledged to make every effort and ensure thorough preparations so that the next festival will be a distinctive event, further deepening exchanges, strengthening mutual trust, and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation. Through this, cooperation will continue to expand across such areas as border gate connectivity, economic and trade collaboration, and people-to-people exchanges.
