Vietnamese and Lao militaries launch joint healthcare program
PANO – A delegation of the General Department of Logistics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and their Lao counterparts launched a joint healthcare program on December 24 in Xiengkhor district, Laos’ Houaphanh province.
The event is to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Lao People’s Army (LPA) (January 20, 1949).

The program was attended by Major General Vu Ba Trung, Deputy Political Commissar of the VPA’s General Department of Logistics; Major General Khamdeng Phengvilay, Deputy Director of the LPA’s General Department of Logistics; Major General Nguyen Xuan Kien, Director of the Department of Military Medicine of the VPA’s General Department of Logistics; and Major General Bouasing Inthavong, Director of the Department of Military Medicine of the LPA’s General Department of Logistics.
At the event, Chairman of the People’s Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of Xiengkhor district Phanta Thonbongsa said that the program aims to highlight the trustful relationship between the two militaries.

Major General Khamdeng Phengvilay thanked the leadership of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the General Department of Logistics for their care for the Lao people. The program is not only to provide health checkups, free medicines, and gifts for Lao locals, but also to share experience in military medicine between the two militaries and two military medical forces.
For his part, Major General Vu Ba Trung held that the participants would promote solidarity and overcome hardships to fulfill their missions, so as to leave a good impression on local people.

As scheduled, the delegation will offer health services to approximately 1,500 people and hand over gifts to local policy beneficiaries during the four-day program.
