Vietnam Laos expand defense cooperation
PANO - Lieutenant General Sonthong Phomlavong, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics (GDP) of the Laos People's Army, on December 4 received a delegation of the People's Army Newspaper (PAN)'s cadres who are working in Laos to cover the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Lao People's Army (January 20).
Colonel Tran Hoang Tien, Chief of the Editorial Department of the PAN’s monthly magazine “Events and Witnesses”, briefed Gen. Sonthong Phomlavong that thanks to support of the Lao localities' authorities and military units, the Vietnamese delegation has completed all assigned tasks as planned.
The Vietnamese delegation attended the 50th founding anniversary of Viengxay district (Huaphan province), had field trips to military units under the Huaphan provincial Military Command, and visited some relic sites. The PAN reporters will write stories about the country, people and military of Laos in the PAN’s publications on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Lao People's Army.
For his part, General Phomlavong thanked the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Politics (GDP), and the People's Army of Vietnam for sending the delegation to Laos to cover news of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Laos People's Army.
He also praised the Vietnamese delegation for their great efforts in overcoming difficulties to fulfill their assigned tasks, as well as reconfirmed the special solidarity and cooperation between the two Parties, States, and militaries.
