The agreement was reached during the talks in Hanoi on November 15 between Vietnamese Defense Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich, head of the Vietnamese military delegation, and his Belarusian counterpart Lieutenant General Ravkov Andrei Alekseevich, head of the high-ranking Belarusian military delegation on an official visit to Vietnam from November 14-17 at the invitation of the Vietnamese Defense Minister.

Before the talks, General Ngo Xuan Lich presided over a solemn welcome for Lieutenant General Ravkov Andrei Alekseevich at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense.

Two sides at the talks

The visit takes place in the context that the two countries are enjoying fine development in their traditional friendship and partnership, especially in politics-diplomacy, defense, security, economy-trade and important bilateral defense and military technical cooperation.

The visit aims to cement the bilateral defense cooperation, contributing to developing the time-honored friendship and partnership between Vietnam and Belarus.

At the talks, the two sides exchanged the situation, outcomes and orientations of the cooperation in defense and military technology in the time to come.

Both ministers agreed to boost cooperation in experience-sharing, personnel training, military communication, military science, military sports exchange and military terrains.

After the talks, the two sides signed an agreement on cooperation in military science and a plan on delegation exchange for 2019.

During their stay in Vietnam, the Belarusian delegation paid a courtesy call on Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, laid a wreath and pay tribute to fallen soldiers at the monument dedicated to them in Bac Son street (Hanoi), paid homage to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum, and visited several Vietnamese military units and historical and cultural relics in the country.
