Vietnam, Japan to boost defense cooperation and exchange
PANO – Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Defense Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich held a courtesy reception for Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio on July 4 in Hanoi.

At the reception, General Ngo Xuan Lich stressed that the Vietnam-Japan bilateral relations have seen practical and substantial developments both in scope and scale recently, and Japan’s invaluable support for Vietnam in various fields over the past time has actively contributed to the development of the bilateral relations. For his part, Ambassador Umeda Kunio believed that the Vietnam-Japan ties are in the best-ever developing stage, shown in the regular exchange of delegations and the strengthened cooperation in all fields of the two sides.
Exchanging notes on recent defense cooperation results, General Ngo Xuan Lich and his guest agreed to continue boosting the cooperation in a number of fields, such as exchange of delegations at all levels, defense policy dialogue, training, capacity building and enhancement, sharing of experiences in joining UN peacekeeping operations, war-consequence relief, and more.
General Ngo Xuan Lich affirmed that Vietnam hopes to further develop defense cooperation and exchange with Japan in a bid to boost understanding and trust between the two armed forces and peoples, contributing actively to peace and stability in the region and the world.
