Over the past time, on the basis of the sound relations between the two nations, the defense cooperation has been boosted and developed comprehensively in all fields with positive results, becoming an important pillar in the Vietnam - Japan relations, especially in the fields of delegation exchange, maintaining deputy ministerial defense policy dialogue mechanisms, and overcoming war aftermath, among others.

General Chien emphasized that there remains ample room for defense cooperation, especially in the fields that Japan has potential and Vietnam has demands. He also requested Japanese Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Funakoshi Takehiro to make recommendations to the Japanese Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense so that both sides would promote the bilateral defense cooperation, contributing to the bilateral ties.
