During the event, the two ministers informed each other about the COVID-19 situation and prevention and control results in each country. They also hailed the efforts of each other in disease relief as well as effectively in implementing bilateral defense cooperation in 2020.

The two sides also agreed to soon carry out contents of the bilateral defense cooperation after the pandemic is under control, focusing on military medicine, U.N. peacekeeping, defense industry, and human resource development, among others.

General Lich also congratulated India on being elected as a non-permanent member of the U.N. Security Council (UNSC) for the 2021-22 term, while expressing his thanks to India for its support for and coordination with Vietnam as the Chair of ASEAN in 2020 and as a non-permanent member of the UNSC in 2020-21, especially within the framework of the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM+).

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Defense Minister invited his Indian counterpart to attend the online ADMM+ and a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the ADMM+, slated for early December 2020, and to visit Vietnam once the pandemic is under control.

The two ministers then witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement in hydrography.
