Vietnam, China preparing for 4th Border Defense Friendship Exchange
PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, permanent member of the Central Military Commission of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and Deputy Defense Minister on May 12 met with Senior Lieutenant General Fan Changlong, Deputy Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
General Vinh is a member of the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by President Tran Dai Quang to visit China and attend the High-Level Forum “One Belt, One Road” in Beijing, China. Earlier, General Vinh led a Vietnamese defense delegation to work with a delegation of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission of PLA on the preparations for an upcoming Vietnam visit of General Fan and the fourth Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange.

At the meeting, General Vinh extended regards of General Ngo Xuan Lich, Deputy Chairman of the Central Military Commission of VPA and Defense Minister to General Fan.
General Vinh also informed General Fan of outcomes of the working session with the delegation of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission of PLA.
General Vinh affirmed that the Vietnamese side highly values the upcoming Vietnam visit of General Fan, considering it an important event in bilateral defense ties between VPA and PLA and the two peoples. He said that the Vietnamese side will do its utmost to successfully organize the visit and fourth Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange, bringing about good political and defense outcomes to bilateral relations between the two militaries and two countries.
For his part, General Fan thanked General Vinh for the information about Vietnam’s preparations for his upcoming visit and the fourth Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange. He believed that the fourth Vietnam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange will be successful.
General Fan also expressed pleasure at frequent exchanges and effective cooperation activities between military services, corps, schools and border units of the two armies, contributing largely to strengthening unity and friendship between the two armies and peoples as well as peace and stability in the region and world.
