Vietnam, Cambodia sign MoU on border cooperation
PANO – A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the Royal Cambodian Army under the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces on February 3 in Hanoi.
Major General Le Duc Thai, Commander of the Vietnam Border Guard Command, chaired the event.
Based on the protocol on bilateral defense cooperation in the 2020-2024 period, the two sides committed to managing the borderline defined by the signed agreements.
Over the past time, both units have actively exchanged information, strengthened coordination, and organized bilateral patrols to protect the borderline and border markers on the borderline between the two countries, thus contributing to maintaining political security, social order, and safety in border areas.
Speaking at the event, General Le Duc Thai affirmed that the signing ceremony marked a new development in the cooperative relationship between the two countries. It also demonstrates the political trust and determination of the two sides in building a Vietnam-Cambodia border of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.
In addition, the signing of the MoU will actively contribute to completing the land border demarcation according to the plans of the two governments, at the same time serving as a foundation for the protocol on border cooperation between the two defense ministries as well as with other neighboring countries in the coming time.
