Vietnam attaches importance to defense ties with Thailand
PANO -Vietnam attaches importance to the bilateral defense ties with Thailand and hopes that the cooperation will be expanded, said Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh.

General Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Member of the Central Military Commission, and Deputy-Defense Minister, made that statement during a reception for Thailand’s Lieutenant General Parinya Khoonnasee on July 19 at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense. The Thai general is Chief of the Directorate of Joint Forces Operations of Thailand
At the meeting, the guest informed the host of the outcomes of his earlier meetings with functional agencies under the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, and Thailand’s preparations for its ASEAN Chairmanship in 2019.
He spoke highly of the fruitful defense ties between the two countries over the past time, especially in exchanges of delegations and young officers, and experience-sharing. He also hoped that the two militaries will expand their cooperation in search and rescue and disaster relief.
For his part, General Vinh held that the relationship between Vietnam and Thailand has been developing flourishingly and highly valued the rich contents of the bilateral defense cooperation.
General Vinh emphasized that Vietnam supports Thailand in its successful chair of ASEAN for 2019.
