Houaphanh province's delegation at the event |
Dau Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee and Head of the province’s Special Working Committee, and Longkham Phonmixay, Vice Governor of Houaphanh province, co-chaired the talks. Attendees included leaders of departments and agencies who are members of the Special Working Committees of both localities.
At the talks, both sides highly valued the results achieved during the 2025-2026 dry season. Despite increasingly scarce information on martyrs’ graves and harsh weather conditions, the collection team under the Thanh Hoa provincial Military Command has always received wholehearted support from the Party committees, authorities, and ethnic people of Houaphanh province. Thanks to this close coordination, functional forces have searched for, collected, and repatriated 19 martyrs’ remains, reaching 119% of the set target.
Acknowledging that information on martyrs’ graves will become even more scarce, both sides agreed to deeply promote the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos. The two Special Working Committees affirmed their determination to implement comprehensive measures to effectively and safely carry out tasks in the 2026-2027 dry season.
The two sides agreed to sign and implement several key measures in the coming time. Accordingly, they will step up information dissemination and close coordination among functional forces and mass organizations to encourage locals to proactively provide information, act as guides, and pinpoint grave locations. The Houaphanh provincial Special Working Committee will direct its armed forces to coordinate closely in ensuring security; provide protection, guides, interpreters, and vehicles; and create the most favorable conditions for the collection team.
Additionally, the standing bodies of both sides will continue advising on search solutions and coordinating to solemnly organize ceremonies to receive and hold memorial services for the martyrs. Meanwhile, they will broaden information dissemination so people in both provinces can proactively visit and offer incense in tribute to the heroic martyrs.
