Present at the event were Lieutenant General Tran Huu Phuc, Director of the Department of Military School Management under the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, and VRTC’s Director Major General Dang Hong Trien.

According to Senior Colonel Pham Ngoc Quyen, Head of the VRTC’s Education and Training Department, the course was authorized by the Ministry of National Defense. It will gather 59 officers from military units that will take part in the nine-month course, which includes three subjects and 1,052 classes as well as fact-finding activities and talk shows.

The course aims at providing the basic knowledge of phonetics, vocabulary, and grammar, as well as helping trainees to practice listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, he stressed.

Addressing the ceremony, General Trien held that VRTC is a multidisciplinary international cooperation platform that is currently conducting scientific research for tropical endurance, tropical ecology and tropical biomedicine. Since 2002, the center has been assigned missions of providing Russian language courses for military officers and it has successfully finished 17 courses.

In addition, the general required the trainees to strictly observe military discipline and the center’s regulations during the course. In addition, he urged them to actively self-study and find suitable learning methods to fulfill their assigned missions.
