Military Region 4 enhances cooperation with Lao People’s Army units
PANO - On June 18, in Laos, Military Region 4 (MR4) of the Vietnam People’s Army and Division 4, Division 1, along with the provincial military commands of Vientiane, Xaisomboun, Houaphanh, Xiangkhouang, Bolikhamsai, Khammouane, Savannakhet, and Salavan under the Lao People’s Army (LPA), convened their 2025 annual conference.
The meeting was co-chaired by Major General Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Commander of Military Region 4, and Major General Vongchane Phanchanhthaman, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Division 1, and head of the LPA delegation.

An overview of the conference |
At the conference, both sides highly appreciated the cooperative relationship between Military Region 4 and Lao military units and localities in recent years, affirming that this collaboration is in line with the foreign policy directions of the two parties, states, and Ministries of National Defense.
Throughout 2024 and the first half of 2025, Military Region 4 and the Lao military units and localities have actively fostered cooperation. Both sides have closely monitored the situation along the shared border to safeguard political security, social order, and public safety. At the same time, they have effectively implemented joint models, projects, and delegation exchanges in border areas.

Relevant forces from both countries have provided sound advice and worked together to strengthen political systems at all levels, contributing to local economic, cultural, and social development. They have also closely coordinated in the search, collection, and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who sacrificed their lives in Laos, while jointly carrying out other missions. These efforts have further strengthened Vietnam–Laos solidarity and friendship in general, and the ties between Military Region 4 and Lao military units and localities in particular.
