Addressing the event, Major General Le Hien Van said that Vietnam and Cambodia, sharing the Mekong River, have enjoyed close neighborliness. Through ups and downs in history, the two countries have always stood shoulder to shoulder and shared both hardship and success in fighting common enemies for national independence, and overthrowing the Pol Pot genocidal regime, as well as in national building and development, he stated.
Major General Van stressed that the gala night aims to educate the young generations of both sides of the need to treasure, inherit and promote the Vietnam-Cambodia traditional friendship and solidarity.
