In his speech, he emphasized that international cooperation and defense diplomacy have yielded significant and comprehensive results through innovative and effective approaches. They have contributed significantly to the success of the Party and State's diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy, mobilized resources for military building and national defense, and enhanced the country and military's reputation in the international arena.
Regarding bilateral relations, defense diplomacy has been implemented proactively to expand ties with countries worldwide and promote defense cooperation with neighboring nations and powerful countries, ensuring balanced relations based on the principles of equality, respect, mutual benefit, and compliance with international law. Vietnam has established defense ties with over 100 countries, sent 33 defense and military attachés to foreign countries and the United Nations, and allowed 52 countries to have defense attaché/military attaché offices in Vietnam.
In the multilateral area, Vietnam has continued to asserting its prestige in the region and international arena by actively participating in and proposing initiatives at regional and multilateral defense cooperation forums. The Ministry of National Defense has also successfully hosted major multilateral events such as the 23rd ASEAN Chiefs of Army Multilateral Meeting, the 30th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet, the "Emergency Area" event within the framework of the International Army Games 2022, and the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2022.
In addition, the defense ministry has made significant progress in areas such as U.N. peacekeeping operations and war legacy settlement.
During the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien provided clear information about international integration and defense diplomacy in the future. The defense ministry will continue to align its work with the Party's guideline and the State's policies, enhance the effectiveness of defense diplomacy forecasting and consulting, complete relevant documents, and promote the roles of personnel in mission implementation.
