Frigate 015-Tran Hung Dao concludes goodwill visit to Japan

During the visit, the Vietnamese delegation and the ship’s chains-of-command paid a courtesy call on leaders of Kure city. Officers and sailors of both countries toured frigate 015-Tran Hung Dao and Japan’s JS Tenryu; and engaged in sports exchange activities.

The Vietnamese delegation also visited several scenic landscapes and historical relic sites in Hiroshima.

Before heading for its visit to the Republic of Korea, the 015-Tran Hung Dao conducted joint exercise on maneuvering in formation and communicating at sea with Japan’s JS Yamagiri.

Regarding the visit, Vice Admiral Tamotsu Matsumoto, Commanding Officer of Kure District under the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, stated that frigate 015-Tran Hung Dao’s long voyage under challenging weather conditions to reach Japan demonstrated the spirit and capability of the Vietnam People’s Navy.

He also highlighted exchange activities at the Kure Naval Base during the visit, emphasizing that they helped enhance mutual understanding between officers and sailors of the two sides, further promoting cooperation between the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.

In a conversation with reporters, Mayor of Kure Yoshiake Shinhara expressed his pleasure and honor in welcoming the 015-Tran Hung Dao, which represented the Vietnam People’s Navy, to the city. He added that strengthened exchanges and cooperation between the two nations carry great significance for regional and global peace and prosperity.
