Expansion of defense cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, China
PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defense Minister, received Chinese and Lao missions visiting Vietnam in Hanoi on November 13.

The Chinese delegation was led by Lieutenant General Sheng Bin, Director of the National Defense Mobilization Department under the Central Military Commission, while the Lao delegation was headed by Colonel Keosouvanh Inthavongsa, Director of the Kaysone Phomvihane National Defense Academy.
At the reception for the Chinese delegation, Lieutenant General Sheng Bin briefed General Giang on their activities during their visits to some Vietnamese military units, academies and schools. He hoped that both sides would further expand the cooperation relationship in fields agreed by the two defense ministries.
For his part, General Giang spoke highly of the recent signing of a border guard coordination mechanism as witnessed by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President Xi Jinping. He hoped the two sides would continue jointly carrying out more practical cooperation activities.
At the reception for the Lao delegates, General Giang hailed the results of their meeting with the Vietnamese National Defense Academy, suggesting the two defense ministries should continue to effectively implement their signed agreements. The Vietnamese General Staff and Ministry of National Defense will create favorable conditions for the two academies’ cooperative relations in the coming time, he added.
