Members of the Engineering Company Rotation 3 welcomed at Noi Bai International Airport

During their one-year tenure at UNISFA, the unit accomplished numerous major tasks that contributed to the stable operation of peacekeepers and stable life of local residents in Abyei. In particular, the company repaired and upgraded 62 km of UNISFA’s main supply route and over 180 km of strategic patrol routes. These efforts ensured the smooth transportation of goods, food, and fuel, while also opening new routes that connected remote bases and ended their isolation during the rainy season. Despite facing harsh weather conditions and a complex security environment, the company, with determination and scientific approach, completed all projects with high quality and received excellent evaluations.

These included providing free medical check-ups; distributing medicines, rice, furniture, school supplies and essential goods; renovating public facilities such as schools, hospitals, radio stations, rural roads; and hosting cultural activities, thereby fostering enduring bonds with the local community.

Through responsibility, innovation, and professionalism, the unit affirmed the prestige and capability of the Vietnamese engineering force in U.N. peacekeeping, earning a letter of commendation from the UNISFA leadership. According to UNISFA’s assessment, the unit’s performance has set a new benchmark for U.N engineering units in peacekeeping missions.
