On behalf of the Vietnamese MND’s leadership, Gen. Chien congratulated Sr. Col. Jiangbo on his new post as the Chinese defense attaché to Vietnam. He believed that the Chinese officer would have a successful working term, and make active contribution to the development of the bilateral defense ties in the coming time.

The Vietnamese defense leader affirmed that China is a neighboring country, a traditional friend of Vietnam with similarities in terms of ideology and led by a communist party, fully converging the highest priorities in Vietnam's foreign policy.

He underlined that over the past time, the bilateral defense cooperation has continued to be an important pillar in the two countries’ relations, demonstrated via practical and effective cooperation in exchanges of all-level delegations, especially high-level ones, border management and protection, the eighth Vietnam-China Border Defense Exchange, collaboration between arms and services, and education and training.

Gen. Chien asked the Chinese defense attaché to promote the role of connection, actively enhance bilateral defense relations with a focus on all-level delegation exchanges, particularly high-level ones, maintenance of dialogue mechanisms, cooperation in border management and protection and between arms and services, in Party and political work, and young officer exchange.

Expressing his honor to be appointed as the Chinese defense attaché to Vietnam, Sr. Col. Jiangbo stressed that he stays ready to cooperate with functional agencies of the Vietnamese MND to carry out cooperative contents and promote the defense relations between Vietnam and China on the basis of the common perceptions of the two countries’ senior leaders.
