ASEAN’s military medical forces hold online conference about Covid-19 control and prevention
PANO - The Board of Directors of the ASEAN Center of Military Medicine (ACMM) held their fifth teleconference in Hanoi on July 16 to discuss the joint efforts to prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic.
The meeting was chaired by Major General Nguyen Xuan Kien, Director of the Department of Military Medicine under the General Department of Logistics and Chairman of ACMM’s Board of Directors.

Other members of ACMM’s Secretary Board and representatives of ACMM’s Board of Directors also attended the conference.
Addressing the event, General Kien emphasized the complicated development of the Covid-19 pandemic in the world, with nearly 200,000 cases and 5,500 deaths in Southeast Asia. The situation requires the medical forces of ASEAN countries in general and ACMM in particular to continue to work together to prevent and control the pandemic.
At the event, military medical representatives from ASEAN countries informed delegates of the Covid-19 situation in their countries, focusing on discussing measures to implement quarantine work. They also approved plans to hold a seminar to review the online table-top exercise on COVID-19 response under the chair of Vietnam.
In addition, the conference also discussed measures to strengthen the cooperation in scientific and professional research to identify the roles and responsibility of military medical forces in the prevention and control of infectious diseases among ASEAN countries.
