PANO - The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) kicked off the construction of Dongkasen Primary School in Thakhek town, Khammuan central province of Laos.

With an area of 16,315 square kilometres, Khammuan has enjoyed good infrastructure investment from the Lao Government. However, the investment in education remains modest. In light of this situation, BIDV, a Vietnamese business that has operated in Laos for 16 years, decided to build a primary school in Thakhek town of Khammuan province.

Ground-breaking ceremony

Accordingly, Dongkasen Primary School is being built in line with standards set by the Ministry of Education of Laos at a cost of US$200,000 (around VND 4.5 billion). When finished, the school will have six 60m2 classes capable of accommodating 30 students each, or 180 students per shift. The school will also be equipped with lighting and ventilation systems to facilitate learning and teaching.

Over the past 16 years, BIDV has excellently performed its role as an effective connector between the two economies, contributing to further developing the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
