Friendship insignia presented to U.N. Women Representative in Vietnam

Speaking at the event, VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga affirmed that Ms. Elisa Fernandez Saenz is a close friend of Vietnam. During her five-year tenure as U.N. Women Representative in Vietnam, Elisa Fernandez Saenz and U.N. Women Vietnam have successfully implemented many programs and projects on gender equality, women’s rights, social security, gender-based violence prevention and response.

Meanwhile, she has proposed many initiatives to intensify dialogue and coordination between governments, U.N. agencies, and relevant units on gender equality, as well as promoting Vietnam’s contribution to the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda. Especially, she is also the initiator of a series of dialogues to promote and enhance the role of Vietnamese women in leadership and management.

Recognizing her valuable contribution to effective cooperation between the U.N. and Vietnam, and Vietnam’s development, particularly Vietnamese women’s advancement, the VUFO presented the insignia to Elisa Fernandez Saenz, hoping that she would continue supporting Vietnam and making more contribution to promoting gender equality in the world.
