Addressing the ceremony, VUFO’s President Nguyen Phuong Nga noted that with his experience and enthusiasm, Ambassador Ory Csaba has made important contribution to the development of the relations between Vietnam and Hungary across various fields during his working term starting in 2015.

During his term of office, two-way trade between Vietnam and Hungary has witnessed a considerable rise over the past few years, with the turnover reaching USD 1.3 billion in 2020 (or 4.7 times higher than 2017) and USD 1.1 billion in 2021 despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, projects using ODA from Hungary has brought socio-economic benefits to the Vietnamese people. The diplomat also proposed increasing Hungarian scholarships for Vietnamese students from 100 to 200/year and promoting relations between localities of the two countries.

More especially, in 2021, Ambassador Ory Csaba greatly contributed to Hungary’s decision to deliver 256,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines and 100,000 test kits to assist Vietnam in coping with the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, the Hungarian diplomat has always treasured and actively consolidated the traditional friendship between the two peoples. He has actively supported and participated in activities of VUFO and the Vietnam – Hungary Friendship Association and served as bridge to connect the Vietnam – Hungary Friendship Association and Hungarian partners in the fields of education, training, culture, and tourism.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Ory Csaba shared his special feeling for the S-shaped country. He said that he felt in love with Vietnam at the first time when he came to the country in 1984 and wished to come back to the country.

Ambassador Ory Csaba thanked VUFO and the Vietnam – Hungary Friendship Association for supporting him to complete his term of office in Vietnam and affirmed that he will continue striving to foster the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary in the future.
