An overview of the conference |
The committee has recently coordinated closely with relevant ministries and sectors to direct the border gate working sub-committees of seven Vietnamese provinces bordering China. These efforts aimed to strictly maintain inspection and supervision procedures while stepping up administrative reforms to facilitate cross-border circulation.
As a result, in 2025, over 20.7 million people and nearly 1.86 million vehicles were recorded to go through entry and exit procedures, alongside more than 15.4 million tons of imported and exported goods. In the first four months of 2026, the border gates continued to record over 6.6 million people, nearly 550,000 vehicles, and over 4.7 million tons of circulating goods.
Additionally, the committee has implemented electronic border guard procedures at land border gates and integrated the VNeID application for declarations. The promotion of digital transformation has significantly reduced clearance times, allowing passengers to pass through automated gates in an average of just 15-20 seconds.
Regarding railway border gates, the committee directed the border gate working sub-committees in Lang Son and Lao Cai provinces to strictly observe the Agreement and Protocol of the Vietnam-China Border Railway Conference, ensuring maximum facilitation for the flow of people and goods.
During the event, delegates focused on discussing and proposing various measures to improve border gate management and entry-exit control. Key suggestions included streamlining mechanisms and policies, boosting infrastructure investment, expanding digital technologies, and enhancing coordination among forces.
Concluding the conference, Lieutenant General Vu Trung Kien acknowledged the delegates’ constructive feedback and frankly pointed out several obstacles that need urgent resolution. To enhance future management efficiency, the Vietnam Border Guard Commander requested delegates to continue studying materials and propose fundamental, feasible solutions to the Border Gate Department under the Vietnam Border Guard Command, which will serve as a basis for the committee to advise the Government.
