HCM City receives Laos’ noble order
PANO - The Ho Chi Minh City (HCM City) People’s Committee received the first-class Development Order of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on March 29, as part of activities to mark the 55th anniversary of the Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations establishment and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
Attending of the ceremony were Vientiane Governor Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune, Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong and former Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Le Thanh Hai.
Addressing the event, Vientiane Governor Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune said that over the past time, HCM City has supported the Lao capital city in various fields. The presentation of the order to HCM City displayed local people’s recognition of its contributions to the construction and development of Vientiane capital.
On behalf of the Lao Prime Minister, Vientiane Governor Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune presented the order to HCM City for its contributions in building the Vientiane-HCM City Friendship High School, playing an important role in enhancing the friendly relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Laos.
In his speech, Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong affirmed that the order presentation was an important political milestone in the friendship and cooperation between HCM City and Lao localities, including Vientiane.
