The two sides discussed the rapid changes in the global situation, the opportunities brought about by the strong development of science and technology, as well as the challenges facing multilateral institutions.
Son praised the efforts made by UNIDO in promoting industrial cooperation and development at various levels, particularly its support for developing countries in fostering inclusive and sustainable industrial sectors, enhancing industrial production efficiency, improving labor productivity, and boosting the competitiveness of national economies.
He emphasized that in this new phase of Vietnam's development, the advancement of industry, especially in the areas of science, technology, and innovation, holds significant importance.
The Deputy PM and FM requested UNIDO to continue providing support to Vietnam in policy consultancy on industrial development, science and technology, innovation, research and development. They also requested continued enhancement of capacity, increasing industrial production efficiency, added value, and competitiveness in key sectors, and building an industrial base capable of adapting to challenges and withstanding external shocks.
Furthermore, Vietnam hopes the U.N. body will promote cooperation in low-carbon industries, and technology transfer for advancing green transition, digital transformation, and circular economy he added.
For her part, Fatou Haidara congratulated Vietnam on successfully hosting the P4G Summit, and praised the country’s active participation in, and support for multilateralism, particularly in these challenging times.
Showing her admiration for Vietnam’s vision for green growth, sustainable, and inclusive development, she affirmed that UNIDO stands ready to assist with the nation’s development priorities and strategies and to effectively implement joint cooperation projects.
