Meeting UNIDO Director Li Yong in the Central city of Da Nang on June 27 on the sidelines of the sixth Global Environment Facility (GEF)’s Assembly, the Government leader suggested UNIDO assist Vietnam in improving capacity in receiving and transferring technology, increasing power efficiency and developing human resources to serve production development.

The PM lauded the UNIDO leader’s participation in the GEF-6 when Vietnam and UNIDO are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their partnership.

He expressed delight at the achievements of both sides over the years, including cooperation in boosting the growth of the processing industry and rural industries.

He lauded UNIDO’s support and effective policy consultation on building of industrial parks, power efficiency and waste treatment, reform of business registration, management of natural resources, environment, the evaluation of manufacturing skill training and building of a new industry strategy.

Vietnam is ready to cooperate with UNIDO in deploying the green energy strategy, he stated, calling for UNIDO’s assistance in infrastructure projects connecting China and ASEAN and Vietnam in particular.

For his part, Li Yong thanked Vietnam for supporting UNIDO’s activities over the years.

Reviewing cooperation outcomes between the two sides, including the project to develop an eco-industrial park and transfer technology in central Da Nang city, Li Yong pledged that UNIDO will continue coordinating with Vietnamese agencies in researching and applying new technology for sustainable development in Vietnam.

Praising PM Phuc’s proposals, Li Yong stressed that Vietnam’s contributions to the UNIDO have aided the success and growth of the organization.

Noting that ties between Vietnam and UNIDO have thrived, Li Yong expressed belief that the two sides will continue working closely in the future.
