Congratulations on 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Egypt ties
President Tran Dai Quang on September 1 cabled a congratulatory message to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Vietnam-Egypt diplomatic ties (Sept. 1).

The same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh extended his congratulations to Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
Egypt was one of the first Arabian countries to establish diplomatic ties with Vietnam in 1963 and open the embassy in Hanoi in 1964, and the first Northern African country to recognize Vietnam as a market economy in November 2013.
Egypt is Vietnam’s fifth largest trade partner in Africa with two-way trade hitting USD 346 million in 2017. The two countries aim to raise their trade to USD 1 billion in the near future.
In September 2017, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi paid a State visit to Vietnam, which was the first high-level visit between the two countries.
President Tran Dai Quang and his spouse also paid a State visit to Egypt from August 25-28, 2018 at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
