A delegation of Vietnamese businesses have won orders and singed memoranda of understandings for cooperation with South American partners during a recent tour to
Argentina and
Chile.
Speaking with the Vietnam News Agency in Argentina, Phung The Quang, Director of the Economic Department under the Defence Ministry, said the businesses in his delegation, mostly run by the Vietnamese army, are seeking opportunities in mechanics, electronics, shipbuilding, garments and textiles, seafood processing, construction and services.
They held a meeting with representatives from more than 40 Argentinean businesses in Buenos Aires on June 12.
Two-way trade turnover between Viet Nam and Argentina reached 248.5 million USD in 2006, to which Viet Nam's exports contributed 42 million USD, according to Duong The Hung, Vietnamese Commercial Counsellor in Argentina.
Viet Nam exports a wide range of commodities to Argentina, including garment and textiles, footwear, electronics, mechanical equipment, coffee, wood-based products and handicrafts.
